FAQs

1. Pricing:   In the concrete and asphalt business, every job is custom and has numerous varying factors.  Is there access to the area for equipment? (Will we have to hand dig or can we use the backhoe?  Will we have to wheel barrow the cement or are we able to back cement truck to the project?)  What is the size of the area that needs concrete or asphalt?  Is the area level?   What will the area be used for….this will effect the depth of the concrete and/or asphalt?   Do you want wire mesh, rebar or dowbar for more support?   Will we need to haul off debris, dirt, existing concrete or asphalt?   Do you have room for the debris on your property?   Do we need to bring in additional dirt to help level the area?   All of these factors effect our quote.  We think you will find our pricing  reasonable and fair. 2.  How long before my project is started?  We do our jobs in the order that they are approved.  At certain times of the year there may be a longer waiting list than other times.  We do not move other jobs ahead.   The only exception would be an emergency like a water break for a pre-existing or steady customer.

3.  How long to finish the project?  It depends on the size and type of job and if mother nature’s weather  is cooperative.  We are also dependent on whether materials can be delivered as scheduled.

4.  References: Yes we have references.  If at a business, you may drive by and look.  If  it’s a residence, please ask the owner’s permission if it’s not visible from the road.  Privacy and protection is important to us all.

5.  Area of service:  Our business is based in Moore and we are happy to serve all of Oklahoma.  Estimates are free up to 40 miles from Moore. Beyond 40 miles,  we request $1.00 a mile for fuel expense.   We may be able to give you a ballpark estimate over the phone if you are able to give us the details referenced in question #1.

6.  How long before I can drive on or use the concrete area?    We ask that you give at least 5-7 days curing for concrete depending on the coloration.   The longer it sets, the more it cures.    In fact,  concrete takes 33 years to totally cure out.

7.  How long before I can drive or use the asphalt area?  After compaction, we suggest you wait at least 24 hours.  Speed bumps need at least 30 minutes.

8.  Keeping concrete wet in hot weather: If it is possible,  when Oklahoma temps are in the 90s and higher, it helps to spray water lightly every couple hours after it was poured.  Never spray hard directly because this causes pitting.   The more you keep it wet, the less chance there is of cracking and it looks better.   There is no guarantee that it will not crack but it helps most of the time.

9.  Preventing cracks in concrete: Concrete is premixed at the Oklahoma plants and only in extreme heat is a “retarder” added if requested by the contractor.  The “retarder” slows down the quick drying and absorbing of the moisture.  Quick drying usually will cause cracks.  There are no guarantees to prevent cracking.  In extreme cold temps of 34 -45 degrees, fly ash is added to help it set up quicker.

10.  Sealing Asphalt:  it is best to let Oklahoma asphalt cure up to one year, then seal and fill in any cracks that have come about.  Asphalt has AC oil in it and needs a year to cure out.   This is the reason for not sealing the asphalt right away.  Sealing can only be done at 72 degrees and higher and is seasonal.

When laying asphalt patches, they do not require sealing unless a whole parking lot is sealed.

11.  Slick or broom finish:   slick finish is smooth like glass but is more slippery when wet.  The broom finish provides a slight traction and is not slippery when wet.  We prefer to use a light broom finish.
